Role Overview:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of children with complex needs within a Primary School, based in Barnet

You will work under the guidance of the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and classroom teachers to implement individualized support plans, ensuring that each child receives the assistance they require to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to children with complex needs, both in the classroom and during specialized interventions.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), tracking progress and adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and self-confidence among students.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver holistic support that addresses the diverse needs of each child.
  • Help to create and maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that facilitates learning and development.


Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs, preferably within a school setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and support their emotional well-being.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to respond to the changing needs of the children and the school.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, learning support, or a related field would be advantageous.
