About the Role:
Horizon Teachers is collaborating with an Alternative School in North London to find an experienced Learning Mentor. This role focuses on supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. If you have experience working with children who exhibit challenging behavior, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will provide 1:1 support to students with low academic ability, aiding both their academic and social development.

These students have faced challenges in mainstream education and are in need of a positive and supportive learning environment. While most students do not have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), many have been diagnosed with ADHD or SEMH. The ideal candidate will join a dedicated team that tailors curriculum delivery and behavioral strategies to meet individual student needs, ensuring the best possible educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and group support within the classroom
  • Assist pupils with complex needs, Autism, learning difficulties, and severe behavioral challenges
  • Monitor and manage pupil behavior
  • Encourage and support pupils in their learning and development
