Teaching Assistant

A Primary School in Hackney are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team of friendly and hard working individuals on a full time basis. The position is to support a boy in Year 4 with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.The headteacher is hoping to meet with applicants as soon as possible for an interview followed by a trial day working directly with the student. The student received their SEMH statement last academic year. He has had 1:1 support since then. He is very reluctant to work within the classroom and often distracts his fellow peers. He has been described by the headteacher to be hyperactive and have aggressive tendencies. A strategy was in place to support him out of the classroom for half of the day but the school are hoping to integrate him back in to the classroom for the whole day. It is important that he becomes familiar with learning around his fellow students. The school are looking for somebody who is very patient and calm with the ability to build strong working relationships and confidence to manage challenging behaviour. Previous experience supporting students with severe behavioural needs or working in a Pupil Referral Unit will be as advantageous.
